چکیده
This survey paper is aimed to describe a relatively new branch of symbolic dynamics which we call Arithmetic Dynamics. It deals with explicit arithmetic expansions of reals and vectors that have a “dynamical” sense. This means precisely that they (semi-) conjugate a given continuous (or measure-preserving) dynamical system and a symbolic one. The classes of dynamical systems and their codings considered in the paper involve: • Beta-expansions, i.e., the radix expansions in non-integer bases; • “Rotational” expansions which arise in the problem of encoding of irrational rotations of the circle; • Toral expansions which naturally appear in arithmetic symbolic codings of algebraic toral automorphisms (mostly hyperbolic). We study ergodic-theoretic and probabilistic properties of these expansions and their applications. Besides, in some cases we create “redundant” representations (those whose space of “digits” is a priori larger than necessary) and study their combinatorics.

Bijective and General Arithmetic Codings for Pisot Toral Automorphisms
Let T be an algebraic automorphism of Tm having the following property: the characteristic polynomial of its matrix is irreducible over Q, and a Pisot number β is one of its roots. We define the mapping φt acting from the twosided β-compactum onto Tm as follows: φt(ε̄) = ∑ k∈Z εkT −kt, where t is a fundamental homoclinic point for T , i.e., a point homoclinic to 0 such that the linear span of it...
متن کاملOn Generalized Step-functions and Superposition Operators
For a given σ-ideal of sets, the notion of a generalized stepfunction is introduced and investigated in connection with the problem of sup-measurability of certain functions of two variables, regarded as superposition operators. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 28A05, 28D05.
متن کاملSelf-similar fractals and arithmetic dynamics
The concept of self-similarity on subsets of algebraic varieties is defined by considering algebraic endomorphisms of the variety as `similarity' maps. Self-similar fractals are subsets of algebraic varieties which can be written as a finite and disjoint union of `similar' copies. Fractals provide a framework in which, one can unite some results and conjectures in Diophantine g...
متن کاملUnramified Reciprocal Polynomials and Coxeter Decompositions
We classify certain automorphisms of an even unimodular lattice L with fixed irreducible and unramified characteristic polynomial. The question which automorphisms are conjugate to their inverses in the orthogonal group of L is investigated. 2000 Math. Subj. Class. 11H56, 11R06, 20F55.

A method of extending σ-finite quasi-invariant measures given on an uncountable group, by using a certain family of its subgroups, is investigated. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 28A05, 28D05.
